Karin Sagar

Principal/Marketing

Karin Sagar is the Principal for K3 Marketing. She was previously Corporate Vice President of Marketing for Maui Land & Pineapple Company, Inc. and Vice President of Marketing of Kapalua Land Company, Ltd., the operating subsidiary responsible for strategic marketing programming for parent company and three corporate division; managing director of in-house advertising agency and design group for 20 internal customers. Ms. Sagar originally joined Kapalua in 1998 as an advertising manager and rose through the ranks to Vice President/Marketing. She was a key member of executive management team responsible for operations, development, and positioning of 1,650 acre award-winning Kapalua Resort and was the youngest female VP in the history of the company.

Prior to joining Kapalua Land Company, Ms. Sagar worked at Amfac/JMB Development on their Kaanapali Resort real estate development projects, including the launch of the master planned community of Kaanapali Golf Estates and oversaw marketing for their Golf and resort operations. She also served as a Media Planner/Buyer at Moroch & Associates a Dallas based advertising agency serving the McDonald’s franchises for the majority of the Southwest states. She is an honors graduate from the University of Vermont with a major in Business Administration/Marketing.

Karen Thompson

Principal/Creative

Karen Thompson has over 25 years of experience in the marketing and design industry with a degree in Graphic Communications and specialized studies in marketing and fine art. Karen started her career at a Design and Photography studio on the Central Coast of California and worked as a designer for a 400-600 page monthly PrimeMedia publication, Arabian Horse World. It was there that she honed her layout and branding skills as well as working under tight deadlines and the intricacies of the printing field.

In continuing to broaden her skill set within the industry she gained in depth knowledge in print brokering, e-commerce business solutions and company apparel programs in addition to owning and operating an offset printing and graphic design company for several years.

After arriving on Maui over 15 year ago, she worked in the Marketing Department for Kapalua Land Company/Kapalua Resort and Maui Land & Pineapple Company as Creative Services Manager. During her time with Kapalua Marketing, she was an integral part of the branding of this world-renowned destination and responsible for the integrity and brand standards for all divisions throughout the resort. Her keen design aesthetic lead many of the award-winning advertising and marketing campaigns created for the resort.
